Scholarships for Cancer Patients and Survivors

Below is a list of scholarship opportunities for you to consider. Some of them are disease specific, only available to people in certain geographic areas, or have financial need requirements. Others are not cancer specific, but may still be worth exploring.

Scholarship information is subject to change. Please review the website for each foundation for the most current information.

The Angela Stanford Foundation

  • Diagnosis: All cancers.
  • Age: Current high school student or college undergraduates.
  • Additional requirements: Must be a Texas resident. Minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Must exhibit financial need and be a current high school senior or college undergraduate.
  • Deadline: April 30, 2026
  • Amount: $10,000 paid over a 4 year period.
    • Nan Stanford Scholarship: Secondary scholarship you can apply for after you apply for Angela Stanford Foundation scholarship.
      • $50,000 over a 4 year period, minimum GPA of 3.o on a 4.0 scale.

Baron & Budd Scholarship Program*

  • Diagnosis: Cancer survivors and family members of survivors.
  • Age: Must be accepted to a US-based four-year university or college for any field of study.
  • Additional requirements: Applications are submitted either as an essay or a video.
  • Deadline: July 9, 2026
    • Amount: $2500 for top essay and $2500 for top video.

Beyond the Cure (National Children's Cancer Society)

  • Diagnosis: Survivor of childhood cancer or a high grade or anaplastic brain tumor.
  • Age: Currently under the age of 25, diagnosed before the age of 18.
  • Additional requirements: Accepted into a post-secondary school for the fall semester of the upcoming academic year.
  • Amount: Multiple $3500 scholarships will be awarded.
  • Deadline: March 31, 2026

Cancer for College

  • Diagnosis: Cancer patients and cancer survivors.
  • Age: No age requirement.
  • Additional requirements: This website allows you to apply to multiple cancer scholarships using one application. Scholarships are available for attendance at a four-year or two-year undergraduate institution or graduate school.
  • Amount: $500-$4,000
  • Deadline: Accepting applications from Nov. 1- Jan. 31 for the following year.

Children's Cancer Cause - College Scholars Program

  • Diagnosis: Pediatric Cancer Diagnosis.
  • Additional requirements: Applicants must be committed to cancer advocacy. Scholarship includes funding for a cancer related volunteer project.
  • Amount: Varies 
  • Deadline: March 10, 2026 

The Evan Lindberg and Erik Ludwinski College Scholarship Program

  • Diagnosis: Have a diagnosis of a high-risk Cancer.
  • Age: High school seniors.
  • Additional requirements: Must be accepted to a four-year college.
  •  Amount: $2,500 – Can be renewed for up to four years.

    • Application Opens: March 15, 2026
    • Application Closes: May 1, 2026

The Hoffen Foundation - Dillon Wolford Scholarship

  • Diagnosis: Current or history of a life threatening illness or injury.
  • Age: Open to high school seniors and college students.
  • Additional requirements: Must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 hours per semester and have a GPA above 2.0. Must provide evidence of community service.
  • Amount: $300-$1,000 
  • Deadline: All materials must be received by April 30 of the current year, and the scholarship will be awarded by June 1. 

The Izzy Foundation*

  • Diagnosis: Pediatric cancer diagnosed before the age of 18, childhood cancer survivor under the age of 25 and siblings under the age of 25 (bereaved siblings can apply).
  • Age: Two categories – K-12 and college.
  • Amount: $500 per student for up to three years.
  • Deadline: Opens March 1 and closes May 1 annually.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Scholarship for Blood Cancer Survivors

  • Diagnosis: Blood cancer patient or survivors diagnosed at age 25 or younger
  • Additional requirements: Be attending or planning to attend virtual or in-person vocational, two-year, or four-year post-secondary education in the United States full or part-time.
  • Amount: Up to $7,500 for one year. 
  • Deadline: Applications open in the fall, notified in the spring. 

Mesothelioma.com Scholarship*

  • Diagnosis: All cancers, not limited to mesothelioma, or those who have a parent, sibling, or immediate family member that has been diagnosed with cancer.
  • Additional requirements: Must be enrolled full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year university, community college, junior college or graduate degree program. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Amount: One $4,000 scholarship award.
  • Deadline: March 31, 2026

My Hometown Heroes Scholarship

  • Diagnosis: Young adult cancer survivor. 
  • Age: 17 to 39
  • Additional requirements: Planning to enroll at a university, community college, or trade school. Must be a citizen of the United States of America.
  • Amount: Ranges from $1,000 to $10,000.
  • Deadline: Opens Nov. 1, 2026 and closes Jan. 31, 2027. 

National Collegiate Cancer Foundation

  • Diagnosis: Cancer survivors or currently receiving treatment; also those who have lost a parent or guardian to cancer.
  • Age: 18-35 (can be 17 if entering college in the fall following application).
  • Additional requirements: Attend or plan to attend an accredited college, university or vocational institution in pursuit of an associate, bachelor, master's, doctorate or certificate.
  • Amount: $1,000 
  • Deadline: Applications open March 2026.

Northwestern Mutual Childhood Cancer Survivor & Sibling Scholarship Program *

  • Diagnosis: Any cancer diagnosis treated at any age or siblings of individuals who are in current treatment, have survived or passed away from pediatric childhood cancer.
  • Age: 25 and younger.
  • Additional requirements: Applicants must be high school seniors, high school graduates or current postsecondary undergraduates who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year. Minimum GPA of 2.5 and demonstrate financial need.
  • Amount: $5,000 (25 awarded)
  • Deadline: Application opens Dec. 2026.

Orange Out M/C Forever Friends Scholarship*

  • Diagnosis: All cancers or siblings of cancer patient.
  • Age: High school senior.
  • Additional requirements: Applicant or sibling of applicant must have been treated at a children's hospital in the DFW Metroplex and must be a graduating senior. 
  • Amount: Not listed – up to $1,500 previously.
  • Deadline: April 24, 2026

Patient Advocate Foundation

  • Age: Under 25
  • Diagnosis: Must have been diagnosed with or treated for cancer and/or a chronic/ life-threatening disease within the past five years.
  • Additional requirements: Once awarded, recipients must maintain a 2.75 GPA, be a full-time student, and complete 20 hours of community service per year that the scholarship is awarded.
  • Amount: $3,000 award renewable up to four years.
  • Deadline: Applications are due March 5, 2026.

Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation – Survivor Scholarship

  • Diagnosis: All pediatric cancers. 
  • Age: For graduating high school seniors, community college students or 4-year university students.
  • Additional requirements: Must be enrolled or planning to enroll as a full-time student. Must have a 2.5 GPA.
  • Amount: Ranges from $500 to $2,500.
  • Deadline: March 31, 2026. 

The Ruth Cheatham Foundation Scholarship

  • Diagnosis: All cancers, either in treatment or off treatment.
  •  Age: 17-26
  • Additional requirements: Must be enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in an accredited undergraduate, trade school, or graduate school. Must be a full-time student.
  • Amount: Not disclosed.
  • Deadline: March 31, 2026

Sofia's Hope College Scholarship*

  • Diagnosis: Childhood cancer survivor or someone currently being treated for a childhood cancer.
  • Additional requirements: Must be enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate school.
  • Amount: $2,000 plus a laptop or tablet.
  • Deadline: March 15, 2026
    • Has separate sibling scholarship on website

Sophie Malaviya Memorial Scholarship - Silken Twine

  • Diagnosis: A cancer survivor or currently diagnosed with cancer.
  • Age: Graduating high school senior who will be enrolling in a two or four-year undergraduate program or professional/trade school as a freshman.
  • Additional requirements: Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States. 
  • Amount: $1,000
  • Deadline: May 31, 2026

Strong Arm of Georgia Scholarship*

  • Diagnosis: You or a loved one has been affected by leukemia.
  • Additional requirements: Must be enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate school in the United States

Student Movement Against Cance r– Cancer Fighter Scholarship*

  • Diagnosis: Cancer survivor or family member of a survivor.
  • Additional requirements: Must be a graduating senior planning to attend a two or four year college, vocational or technical school. Does not consider financial status.
  • Amount: $1,000 (10 scholarships are available).
  • Deadline: April 1, 2026

Transplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO)*

  • Diagnosis: Solid organ or bone marrow candidate, recipient, donor, or an immediate family member (defined as a parent, child, spouse of sibling).
  • Age: Diagnosed at or before age of 19.
  • Additional requirements: Must be a TRIO member (to join, visit their website). Must have financial need. Must use scholarship award for continuing education at an accredited college, university or trade/ technical school certificate program. Must maintain a 2.5 GPA in school.
  • Amount: $1,000 one-year non-renewable award.
  • Deadline: June 30, 2026

Toby Merrill Scholarship

  • Diagnosis: Special consideration will be made for candidates who are experiencing personal or family issues related to cancer or bereavement.
  • Additional requirements: Scholarship recipients will excel in the areas of academics, athletics, and leadership and will demonstrate high character traits such as kindness and strength during times of adversity. Minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Amount: $9,700 per year – up to four years.
  • Deadline: Application is open, but lists dates for 2025?
